Episode 7: The Feast of Saint Valentine
An episode so Valentinian, that we had recovered only HALF the episode….. a soul looking for its mate, or perhaps a body looking for its head… UNTIL NOW (Valentine’s Day 2024)!
Back in 2018 we recorded a Valentine's Day episode that entered into limbo as half the original sound file was corrupt. Strangely it was another Ash Wednesday/Valentine's Day mashup. Driven by lack of closure, we released the first half of the Valentine's episode in an effort to necRomance our own past archives as part of 2023’s Epiphany Birthday-Resurrection. Caveat past opinions, etc. But the guilt was strong! So time-travelling back to Valentines Day 2018, Episode SEVEN, we then recorded a proposed what-might-have-been, so that we may now bring you a chimeric moebius strip of Valentinian closure, the Lupercalic head to the body of Ash Wednesday's Valentinian twin separated in linear time but born again this day, where all V-Days do indeed start the Great Fast, once again for the very first time...
TL;DR: We recorded the first half the episode sometime in 2023 and now are stitching it to the first part recorded in 2018, and uploading the half-new episode today, which is now Valentines Day-Ash Wednesday, once again, in 2024. [As it was in the beginning, and ever shall be, world without end.]
This very special episode is brought to you in celebration of the worthy Feast of Saint Valentine, everyone’s favourite beheaded saint turned modern patron of compulsory romance, doubly mysterious this year as this is the First Day of Lent- Ash Wednesday!
This episode is also brought to you by consideration of the attracting demon Brulefor aka Bruslefer and the potent spirit of Quimbanda, Exu Pemba; by the herb Heartsease aka Love-in-Idleness, balm of the lovelorn and heartbroken; by the bright and adamantine virtues of Diamond; and by the liberating and fettering Arcana of The Devil.
This episode is furthermore brought to you by discussion of the topic of Love Magic, and its manifold pursuits of both ennobling joys and horrifying abuses; as well as by consideration of the Venusian geomantic figure of Amissio and the Odu (meiji) of Oshé. Finally, we pay homage to this episode’s dead sorceress and (demi-)goddess, Circe, and her knowledge and manipulation of pharmaka.
We hope you enjoy this episode of transformative enchantment, devilish lusts, heartbreak and heart-healing! [edit: AND TIME TRAVEL!!] We will continue to update the website and our facebook page when footnotes become available.
